Types of Rhinoplasty

What are the types of rhinoplasty? Rhinoplasty, which is a nose job surgery, is defined as making the nose suitable for the general face. In addition, it aims to remove physiological conditions that make breathing difficult. It is known that patients have it done with the aim of achieving a perfect nose. Therefore, the patient’s wishes are listened to beforehand, and the most appropriate treatment method is also determined. It does not have a single operation. There are different types because the nose structure of every person is not the same. In short, the aesthetic need of every nose is not the same. Among the types of surgery, there are open, closed, revision, unbuffered and incisionless, nasal tip, septum deviation, nasal curvature. So, what are the details of these varieties?

Open Rhinoplasty

It can be defined as the removal of deformities in the cartilage or bones that make breathing difficult in the nasal septum. In this method, an incision is made in the part between the nostrils. The opened incision provides a clear view of the nasal cavity. After the incision made in this part, the skin is removed. A clear view of the nasal cavity makes the procedure easier.

Closed Rhinoplasty

It is performed without any incision on the skin. The operation is performed through the nasal cavity. Since all procedures are performed through this space, there is no scar after the operation. If small changes are to be made in the nose, this method is applied. In addition, closed rhinoplasty is applied even if surgery is to be performed due to a nose that makes it difficult to breathe. However, this method is preferred if there are no serious complications.

Revision Rhinoplasty

This surgery is applied to improve the shape and structure of the nose. It both improves the breathing of the person and offers a better appearance in terms of aesthetics. However, in some cases, the surgery may not result as desired. In such a case, the patient’s nose in the first operation does not look like the intended result. For this reason, revisions are made after a certain period of time. The conditions required for revision are listed as follows:

  • Obstruction of the airways
  • Deterioration of nasal asymmetry
  • Nasal tip disorders
  • Collapse in cartilage and nasal bones
  • Insufficient shaping

Unbuffered Rhinoplasty

Unbuffered rhinoplasty is especially important for those who are afraid of experiencing postoperative pain. In rhinoplasty, a tampon is placed on the patient’s nose after surgery. However, the buffer can cause trouble after a point. It may cause discomfort to the patient. Recently, unbuffered rhinoplasty has come to the fore. In this procedure, it is observed that the comfort level of the patient is increased.

Nose Tip Rhinoplasty

In nasal tip surgery, the entire nose is not intervened. Some changes are made only in the tip of the nose. However, not touching the general shape of the nose can sometimes lead to deterioration of the naturalness. In this surgery, the tip of the nose is lifted, lowered or narrowed.

Septum Deviation (Nose Curvature)

It can be done due to the blows received, due to the compressions experienced during childbirth. It can also be done due to genetic disorders. These factors can prevent the patient from breathing properly. Some patients’ noses are not aligned, nosebleeds, and snoring reduce the patients’ quality of life. Therefore, septum deviation is applied and the quality of life of the patients is increased by surgical method. Rhinoplasty types appear to emerge for many different reasons. It is acted according to the needs of the patients and a suitable type is preferred. In this way, a more accurate procedure is applied and the patient’s quality of life is increased. patient before surgery
