Tube Stomach (Sleeve Gastrectomy)

Gastric sleeve surgery is defined as turning the stomach of a person into a banana with a laparoscopic procedure. With the surgery, it is aimed to minimize the person’s food intake. In this, a part of the stomach is surgically removed. However, before sleeve gastrectomy, it is checked whether the person is suitable for surgery. However, sleeve gastrectomy surgery is applied to individuals between the ages of 18-65. In addition, the patient must have a body mass index above 30 or have type 2 diabetes. When these conditions occur, sleeve gastrectomy surgery is applied to the person.

It can be done with general anesthesia or laparoscopic method. If surgery is considered, the patient undergoes a detailed control and controls are carried out. The duration of the operation is around 45 minutes on average.

However, this may vary from patient to patient. After stomach surgery, the patient needs to be fed with liquid for about 2 weeks. Then it needs to be fed carefully and it is recommended to pay attention to the diet. Because if the stomach is forced, it can expand again.
